Reach for the stars

Progress.   Passion.   Performance

Our Ballet Academy is a coaching programme for dancers who have shown focus & dedication to their practice.

These specialised classes are in addition to your RAD graded class, and will give the invited dancers the unique opportunity to improve their strength, flexibility and their performance skills, in order to progress further & faster.

In class we will work hard on improving technique through applying Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), exploring performance skills with the RAD Discovering Repertoire Syllabus & working to progress our training. All with the aim to prepare dancers for auditions, presenting them with external training and performance opportunities to elevate their dance training.

Frequently asked questions…

  • As the class is by invitation from the principal only, our teachers watch each dancer closely in their weekly RAD lesson and are always helping them to grow and expand their confidence. When we see dancers with passion or potential we like to find ways to help them grow their dance education and experience.

So we are looking for dancers who express their passion for dancing through their performance and hard work in class or tell us of their desire to have a career in dance. We also are looking for those dancers in which we see potential for them to progress faster and benefit from elevating their training or trying some auditions to expand their dancing world.

Audition opportunities

  • If you are looking to expand your performance experience or work towards professional training, auditions are an enjoyable and very rewarding process.

There are a variety of performance and training opportunities out there for dancers, here are a few of them:

    • Royal Ballet School Junior Associates (7-10years) : A special Saturday training programme at the Royal Ballet School for aspiring dancers.

    • Royal Ballet School Mid Associates (11-13years) : A special Saturday training programme at the Royal Ballet School for aspiring dancers.

    • London Children’s Ballet (9-16 years) : A unique opportunity to join a cast of children and rehearse for a full length ballet created especially for the children.

    • Intensive courses: A variety of Easter and Summer holiday day or week long course at fantastic institutions such as: RAD, Royal Ballet School, London Children’s Ballet.

    • Ballet Black Associates (12-16 years): a weekly training opportunity with a strong focus on students of Afro-Caribbean, African and Asian descent.

    • Arrive with plenty of time for the dancer to warm up their body and get used to the environment. Remind your child to approach auditions with confidence in their own unique abilities - their best skills will naturally shine through performance!

    • It’s easy to get distracted by the abilities of other dancers but don’t forget they don’t always chose the most flexible, most technically able or the one with more experience - they are looking for a dancer who can show confidence, focus and potential. So just enjoy! Chatting to other dancers and parents will remind you that everyone is in the same boat, feeling the same hope, excitement and nerves that you both are.

    • During the audition dancers may be asked questions or to show their flexibility and posture, we will go through these in class before so you are comfortable with anything they may ask you to do.

    • Don’t forget mistakes are natural when learning dances on the spot, so no need to worry. Try to remember to keep the smile & performance even if something goes wrong :)

    • Most of all enjoy the experience not everyone is successful but the experience and feedback you are given will help you to become an even better dancer for the next opportunity!
